Insights Engine Gets a Major Upgrade
The Insights Engine now understands your lottery like you do — with domain-aware analysis, smarter data sampling, and real-time AI conversations about your reports.
When we launched the Insights Engine, the goal was simple: upload a report, get useful analysis. It worked — but the analysis was generic. It didn't know that your 50/50 sales naturally dip mid-draw, that an orders-per-customer average of 1.1 is actually excellent, or that reaching 40 cities across Northern Ontario is something worth celebrating.
Today's update changes that. The Insights Engine now has deep domain knowledge about charitable gaming — 50/50 raffles, Catch The Ace, Fixed Prize Lotteries, and House Lotteries — baked directly into how it reads and interprets your data.
What's New
Lottery-Aware Sales Analysis
The engine now understands the natural rhythm of a draw period. Sales are typically higher at the beginning (launch excitement) and the end (jackpot urgency), with a natural plateau in the middle. Previous analysis would sometimes flag that mid-draw dip as a concern or calculate a flat daily average that masked the real pattern. Not anymore.
Insights Engine now identifies the early surge, mid-draw plateau, and late-draw ramp-up as distinct phases and frames them accordingly — whether your draw runs for one week or four months.
Purchase Frequency in Context
For 50/50 and similar lotteries, most supporters buy tickets once per draw. That's completely normal. An average of 1.0 to 1.2 orders per customer is healthy, and 1.1 is genuinely strong — it means a meaningful portion of your supporters are coming back for additional purchases within the same draw period.
The engine now treats repeat buyers as a strength to highlight rather than framing low order frequency as a problem.
Top 10 Buyers — Every Time
Every Customer Purchases analysis now automatically includes a Top 10 Buyers section. These are your most engaged supporters — the people most likely to buy again, refer friends, and champion your cause. You'll see them listed by name and total spend in every report.
Smarter Data Coverage
We've increased the data sample that powers the analysis from 100 rows to 500 rows — a 5x improvement. The sampling strategy takes the first 150 rows plus 350 evenly-spaced rows from the rest of the dataset, giving the AI a much more representative view of your full report.
Honest About Limits
If you ask the engine a follow-up question that goes beyond the data it has access to — like "show me the top 100 cities" when only the top 20 are available — it will be upfront about it and point you to practical alternatives, like using Excel's COUNTIF or pivot table features, or checking your Raffle Service Provider dashboard for that breakdown.
Better Tone for Better Teams
These are charitable organizations doing important work in their communities. The analysis tone now reflects that — encouraging, constructive, and focused on opportunities rather than problems. Minor fluctuations are treated as normal. Strengths are celebrated. Recommendations are framed as growth opportunities, not red flags.
Under the Hood
- Ticket price inference — The engine now attempts to identify the ticket price from your data and uses it to contextualize average order values (e.g., "average sale of $22 suggests most supporters are buying 2 tickets at $10 each").
- Geographic reach awareness — Expanding into new cities and postal codes is flagged as a meaningful growth signal, not just a data point.
- Revenue concentration insights — When a small number of top buyers account for a large share of revenue, the engine frames them as key supporters to recognize and retain.
- Consistent domain context — The same lottery-specific intelligence applies whether you're looking at the initial analysis or asking follow-up questions in conversation.
Ask Lightspeed: Your Data Analyst on Demand
The Insights Engine isn't a standalone tool anymore — it's wired directly into Ask Lightspeed. That means you can have a real conversation about your data without leaving the chat.
Upload a CSV or Excel report to Ask Lightspeed and say "analyze this data" — the AI will automatically run it through the Insights Engine, pull in your dashboard metrics, charts, and raw data, and deliver a full written analysis right in the conversation. No tab switching, no copy-pasting numbers.
Conversational follow-ups
The real power is in the follow-up. After the initial analysis, you can ask natural questions like:
- "Why did sales dip in week three?" — The AI references your actual data to explain the mid-draw plateau pattern.
- "Who are my top buyers?" — It pulls the Top 10 list directly from the report.
- "How does Northern Ontario compare?" — It calculates the regional breakdown from your geographic data.
- "What should I do differently next draw?" — It combines the data trends with lottery-specific domain knowledge to give actionable recommendations.
Every follow-up stays in context. The AI remembers the full report, the metrics it already calculated, and everything you've discussed — so the conversation builds on itself instead of starting over each time.
Built-in analysis panel
Inside the Insights Engine itself, every report type now has a dedicated AI analysis panel. Click "Analyze" on any report — Customer Purchases, Customers, Payment Tickets, or Sellers — and a streaming AI conversation opens alongside your dashboard. It reads your charts, tables, and raw data in real time and generates a written analysis that you can then dig into with follow-up questions.
The analysis panel uses the same lottery-aware intelligence as the rest of today's upgrade. Whether you're chatting in Ask Lightspeed or using the panel inside Insights Engine, you get the same domain expertise, the same 500-row data sampling, and the same honest, encouraging analysis tone.
Updated Report Type Layout
The report type selection cards now span the full width of the page for a cleaner, more balanced look after the recent layout changes.
What This Means for You
Upload the same report you uploaded last week and you'll see the difference immediately. The analysis will feel like it was written by someone who actually understands charitable lotteries — because now, it does. And with Ask Lightspeed built in, you can keep the conversation going until you have exactly the answers you need.
