Introducing Home Base: A Team Bulletin Board Built Into Lightspeed

Your team already lives in Lightspeed. Now they can communicate here too. Home Base is a full-featured bulletin board for announcements, updates, and team coordination — with rich text, reactions, custom categories, link previews, and analytics built right in.

Most teams juggle a separate tool for internal announcements — a Slack channel, an email thread, a shared doc that nobody checks. We built Home Base so your team can share updates, flag urgent items, and stay aligned without ever leaving the platform they already use every day.

Here's everything that shipped.

Post, React, and Comment

Home Base is a scrollable feed of team posts. Anyone on your team can write an update, and everyone else can engage with it:

Custom Categories

Posts are organized by category. Out of the box, Home Base ships with five: General, Urgent, FYI, Draw Update, and Campaign. But those are just the starting point.

Admins can open the category manager to create new categories with a custom name and color, edit existing ones, or delete categories that are no longer relevant (posts are reassigned to General). Every category gets its own color-coded badge, and filter tabs in the feed update dynamically — no code changes needed.

Link Previews

Paste a URL into a post and Home Base automatically fetches the page's title, description, and thumbnail image, then renders a preview card beneath your text. Preview data is cached for 24 hours so subsequent loads are instant. Up to three URLs per post are unfurled automatically.

Draft Posts

Not ready to publish? Click Save Draft to save your post without sharing it. Drafts live in a dedicated "Drafts" tab in the filter bar, where you can:

A badge on the Drafts tab shows your draft count so you never forget about work in progress.

Pinned Posts with Drag-to-Reorder

Admins can pin important posts to the top of the feed. Up to three posts can be pinned at once, and their order is now fully controllable:

Acknowledgments and Read Receipts

For posts that require a response, admins can toggle "Require acknowledgment" when composing. Team members see an "Acknowledge" button and a progress bar showing how many people have confirmed. Separately, every post tracks who has viewed it — click the eye icon to see the "Seen by" list.

Bookmarks

Save posts you want to come back to. The bookmark icon on each post toggles save/unsave, and the "Saved" filter tab shows all your bookmarked posts in one place.

Templates

If your team sends the same kind of update regularly — a weekly draw summary, a monthly recap, a campaign kickoff — save it as a template. Click "Template" in the compose area to load any saved template, or "Save current" to capture what you've written for reuse later.

Admin Analytics and Digest Emails

Admins get an Engagement Analytics panel showing post, comment, reaction, and view counts over the last 7, 14, or 30 days — broken down by team member. Identify your most engaged contributors and spot anyone who might be missing updates.

Team members can opt into daily or weekly digest emails that summarize new Home Base activity. The digest includes post counts, top posts, and a direct link back to the feed. Set your preference from the digest icon in the header.

Full-Width, Premium Design

Home Base fills the entire content area with a modern layout: sticky header with search, tab-bar filters with underline active states, scrollable feed on a light gray background, and post cards with clean shadows and generous spacing. It matches the look and feel of Runway and every other Lightspeed tool page.

What it replaces

Home Base isn't trying to be Slack or Microsoft Teams. It's a focused bulletin board for the kinds of updates that matter to a small team: urgent alerts, draw schedule changes, campaign launches, general FYIs. The kind of information that gets lost in a chat stream but is too informal for email. If your team is already in Lightspeed every day, this is where those updates should live.
